The Spring ACTIVE approach produces a fast and comprehensive functional restoration for those whose illness or disability has limited their occupational capacity, physical and psychosocial well-being. The objective of the rehabilitation process is to restore the individual to their pre-accident or illness state of health. We measure improvements in a number of ways: muscle strength, mobility, cardio-vascular fitness. The client is supported by appropriate counselling and educational support and monitored after the programme.

The group exercise approach and the mutually supportive environment are fundamental to the Spring philosophy. Partnership between client and the Spring team motivates individuals to gain sufficient confidence to share the responsibility for their recovery and to take control of the management of their condition.

Work and productivity are vital to health and well being

Early intervention and active rehabilitation is key.  Spring's active rehabilitation programme focuses on restoring normal function and regaining physical fitness. It is achieved through increasing levels of activity and confidence building, rather than focusing on the symptoms of pain.

Spring's rehabilitation programmes have three key elements:

  • Expert therapists supervise group exercise therapy
  • Clients play an active part in their own treatment rather than merely being passive recipients of therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy underpins the overall approach

A typical Spring programme lasts 3 weeks, is residential, is Consultant-led, recognises fully a client's individual needs, and includes:

  • Group exercise
  • Strengthening and mobilising activities
  • Cardiovascular training
  • Recreational therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Coping strategies for management of pain
  • Lifestyle education, ability awareness and self-management techniques
  • Individual physiotherapy and group hydrotherapy
  • Functional activity training/work conditioning
  • Stress and relaxation techniques
